About CPUnity
An advisory with nothing to resell you.
CPUnity is an independent AI advisory for small and medium businesses. No platform to subscribe to, no tokens to resell, no per-seat commission. We deploy AI you own — and we make your team fluent in it.
Why we exist
Small businesses are being sold an AI model built for venture-funded tech companies: rent every query, pay per seat, hand your contracts to a stranger's server. It works brilliantly — for the people renting it out. The arithmetic for the business doing the renting has always looked worse, and it gets worse every renewal cycle.
The open-model world moved in the opposite direction. Powerful models now run on hardware that fits under a desk, in a cupboard, in your own network — privately, 24/7, at zero marginal cost. The gap between what's possible and what SMBs have been offered is where CPUnity works.
Our business model is deliberately boring: we charge for advice, deployment and training. Our recommendations are never paid for by the vendor they concern. The kind of advice we sell is the kind we'd give a friend who owns the company.
The engineers behind CPUnity come from incident response — the people who get called in after a breach. That is why our deployments look different: assume an attacker, shrink the surface, keep a recovery path open.
Demos are easy; trust is engineered. A breach-cleanup pedigree means our hardening isn't a brochure line — firewall rules, access control, update policy, and backups that have actually been restored at 2am. That's the difference between an AI demo and AI you can rely on at 4pm on a Tuesday.
Principles
Four rules we don't bend
Independent & vendor-neutral
We take no commissions, resell no licenses, and accept no vendor money. If the best answer is a tool you can buy in five minutes, you'll hear that first. The audit report is yours to keep even if you hire nobody — including us.
Security-first
We deploy the way defenders build: minimal surface, least privilege, proven recovery. Our engineers work real incident response — they've cleaned up breaches — and they refuse to deploy anything they wouldn't defend.
Local-first
Data that stays home isn't a premium feature — it's the premise. Models on your hardware, inside your network, answering to nobody's logging policy but yours. Cloud is a tool in the toolbox, never the landlord.
Teach a person
Every engagement ends with the capability inside your business: staff who use the tools daily, playbooks in plain language, an admin runbook, and an admin contact who can run the system without us. Dependency is a failure state, not a revenue plan.
What we believe about AI in a small business
AI should behave like good plumbing in a company: always on, invisible in the bills, and fully the owner's. Per-token billing suits companies that need AI to scale their own margins; it suits a twenty-person firm about as well as a metered fountain in the lobby. Open models broke the scarcity that per-token pricing depends on — the industry just hasn't updated its invoices. We help you skip that industry's invoice entirely: buy the capability once, spread it across every desk, keep your data, and teach your people. That is the whole trick, and we're happy it's our job.
